  The original house design included a 10x13-foot kitchen. We enlarged this a bit, and added a walk-in pantry and an adjacent "breakfast room" in the lower- rear turret. We raised the floor level to make it more of a separate room, and designed the floor tile to mimic a rug under the table.
  Victorian kitchens did not have eating areas, but the panoramic views provided by the turret windows made this the perfect spot to begin the day, and we could not resist adding this room.
