The photos above and left are of the guest bathroom on the second floor, just down the hallway from the guest bedrooms. As was customary, furniture takes the place of built-in vanities. True to the period, this was a function of hygiene, and porcelain fixtures with open space below were considered easier to keep clean (therefore, more hygienic). The bathroom on the right is on the first floor (the "powder bath"), just off of the side entrance to the house.
